In the words of John Lennon in a letter to his distraught (?) cousin, he wrote, “Are you lonely..or alone?” There is a world of difference and you have to recognize the difference if you wish to make sensible choices in your dating life.

Loneliness can lead some to pick less than ideal partners due to the feelings of desperation and depression often associated with such lonesomeness.

Judgments in looking for that perfect mate can be clouded and result in more desperation and depression when you end up with the wrong person.

Being alone isn’t all bad especially when you were in an empty or abusive relationship before. You must distinguish what you are truly feeling and what you need. You may be the type that needs to be with someone no matter the cost, but if you can choose wisely, you will find more happiness.

John went on to write, “Prayer is always answered…so be precise and careful when you wish/pray for someone/something. You don’t have to SEARCH for a SOUL MATE…he will find you! What you have to do is BE PREPARED! We are all ‘magnets’…

These are interesting words from one who seemed to have much insight. You can live by them or realize he did have a period in his life where he used psychedelic drugs and you might just be better off if you figure things out for yourself.

Since you are, at present, alone, you need to be there for awhile to see how you may adjust. Some relationships fail because one or the other is so needy in terms of a companion that they neglect giving their mate any space. Try to determine if you are that type, so that you can become a better mate for someone else.

WIth Internet dating, there is ample opportunity to find people to chat with if you are just looking for something to do. A companion comes when you meet and enjoy each others company.

Try not to fall into the trap of staying alone for convenience. It is not healthy to take anything to extremes and becoming a hermit is no exception. Learn to enjoy time alone and make sure you put forth effort to find companions and friends as well as lovers. When the right one comes along, you’ll know, if you have a clear mind and respect for yourself and others.
