INTERNET DATING AT ITS BEST/WORST
Infectious Mononucleosis is actually Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) –
At your age (that's "the Jack Benny 39") it is likely that you will not be bothered with mono because you already had it. There are some concerns so let's take a look.
About 95% of the world population has been exposed to this virus. Most probably never knew they had it, as symptoms are not always seen. When you do have symptoms they include fatigue, sore throat and swollen glands.
The incubation period is 1 to 2 months. Most people don’t remember having contact with someone with a sore throat from that long ago, but it is probably smart to avoid kissing and having sexual relations with sick people. Who would imagine that? While that sounds like good advice, sex-starved older daters don’t always think with their heads, much like sex-starved young daters. It’s the "sex-starved" factor, not the age factor that comes to play in the not using your head aspects of life.
The virus is transmitted by intimate contact with body secretions, primarily saliva – thus the name, the kissing disease. You probably already had mono, as it is often referred to, when you where a kid, so it’s not likely to affect you now. If you do come down with these symptoms, the fatigue can be so profound that you will want to check with your doctor to rule out more serious illness.
In the unlikely event that you do find a date/mate who comes down with mono, stop your intimate relations - that means no kissing and forget the sex, too, though they will not likely want to have sex the way they feel.
When you get mono over 35 years of age, there is the chance that one of the complications could include hepatitis as the virus could attack your liver.
One thing that could be a consequence of the mono you caught when you were a kid is that EBV (the Epstein-Barr virus) has been implicated as the cause of some cancers. While it's too late to worry about getting mono, this should give you reason to do everything in your power to stay healthy - eat right - plenty of sleep - reduce stress - you know the story. This way, your immune system can keep these viruses that lie dormant in your body at bay.
I think that i have had this... and maybe still have it, i occasionally get sore throats and am always tired!
Thanks for bringing this up
